eBay Classifieds Group is an innovative leader in online classifieds, with several brands that span the globe. Our sites help people find whatever they’re looking for in their local communities — whether it’s a job, an apartment, a sofa, a car, a concert ticket, or a family pet. Many of our sites have recently built new product platforms and adopted the eBay brand name – including eBay Classifieds in the US, eBay Kleinanzeigen in Germany, and eBay Annunci in Italy – and are now experiencing fantastic growth. To support this growth we are building a new eBay Classifieds API and welcoming the eBay developer community to learn more about how you can work with us, whether its building a new Facebook application, an iPhone app, or even your own business. Please join us to learn more about eBay Classifieds, our upcoming Common API, and more details about our DevCon contest with a $5,000 top cash prize! In early 2011 ebay will roll out a new suite of web services to drastically reduce the complexity in creating listing & inventory management tools for our marketplaces.  Specifically these services aim to nearly eliminate the need for developers to cache eBay metadata by delivering real-time inline contextual metadata, prevent developers from spending their time to re-implement all of eBay's selling business rules (let the service handle that for you), provide a framework for performing asynchronous processing / filtering / searching through "in progress" edits, expose listing draft preview capabilities...all part of a new platform that allows you to build tools that provide sellers a means to iteratively edit draft copies of their listing assets in an eBay hosted cloud.  To vet, harden, and refine the services slated for release in 2011 eBay is delivering a new set of Bulk Inventory Management suite in 2010 built atop the new services as a refference implementation.  Come see what we're up to. Share your thoughts and ideas.
As the eBay marketplace continues to evolve, new requirements of sellers are enacted to improve the experience for the buyers and enhance the marketplace as a whole. As we saw in 2009 with new requirements for return policy and handling time to the removal of various options and features, maintaining accurate support for eBay features can be a complex task. Implementing this in an easily consumed fashion for users can be even more complex when working with the large volumes of existing information already stored on the behalf of users. We will discuss strategies to simplify implementation of new requirements while maintaining ease of use for sellers and use specific examples from previous requirement changes.
In this open and interactive feedback panel, talk directly with the key people running the eBay Developers Program business, product, and technology teams, along with the eBay Seller and Affiliate teams. Let us know what is and what isn't working well for you, and how we can continue to work together to make it easy for you to be successful eBay developers. Help us guide our program and product roadmap for the coming year and beyond. Bring your specific questions and suggestions.
Those who don’t understand history are doomed to repeat it. Control the destiny of your business and technology by mastering the early detection of elusive patterns of growth – and decline. Learn the five dangerous curves so you can understand where you are, what’s next, and how to avoid common pitfalls.

Whose User Is This Anyway?
An average internet user has about two dozen accounts. For an individual user, managing these accounts is inconvenient but for an online merchant with employees and multiple roles, managing multiple accounts reduces productivity, increases risks and costs. To solve this problem, the federated identity schemes, where users manage only one account with an Identity provider (IDP) and other online service providers(aka Relying Parties) consume that identity, has been introduced but only recently gained momentum with the success of oAuth and APIs such Facebook’s Connect, Google FriendConnect etc. Although these schemes are most popular in the end user space, they are moving gradually to business services and applications.
Adopting a federated identity schemes for a business service/application however is not straightforward. In this talk we focus on challenges and best practice of being a relying party.
We first briefly review popular identity federation schemas (OpenID, SAML, oAuth) then examine the common use cases and best practices in accepting and using identities provided by external identity providers (eBay, PayPal, Facebook, Google etc.) and finally offer architectural model and design blue prints for relying parties.
Since its inception in 2000 has become the world’s largest ticket marketplace second only to Ticket Master in overall ticket sales (even surpassing EBay at the time of the acquisition). A number of years ago, one of our product managers coined the phrase “StubHub Everywhere” alluding to the company’s desire to extend its presence into sites across the internet. Today it’s common to come across StubHub adds anywhere from fan sites like ESPN and Pandora to non-fan-centric information sites like latimes.com (and zillions of others through our advertising and affiliate networks). Many of these “presences” are made possible by the StubHub catalog feed and a palette of widgets based upon this feed.

Come to this talk to learn about the present and future services available in the StubHub affiliate platform.
PayPal has opened up it’s Global Payments Platform and released a suite of APIs which are driving innovation in online payments and helping in making the Wallet on the Cloud a reality. The guys who work directly with the new APIs will be on hand to show you what you can do with the hot new tools. It will also be your chance to let them know what you need to succeed.
eBay is, in essence, the first social network on the Web. Social media is in its DNA. Starting with the eBay Developer Blog back in 2004 and through today there are a variety of official company blogs that address key aspects of its business, community and technologies.

eBay Ink, the official corporate blog, is a unique social media forum that allows the company's management and users to engage in candid conversations about the company's business operations. Evolving from a traditional corporate blog into a "Life Stream," eBay Ink acts as a one-stop repository of online conversation and dialogue about the entire company and its adjacencies. In this session, find out how eBay's innovative use of Web 2.0 tools, such as blogs and Twitter, has given its external audience not only a voice but also a seat at the company's management table.

In this session, eBay's chief blogger, Richard Brewer-Hay, will provide a detailed case study behind the growth of social media innovation at the company. Including, but not limited to, the emergence of live-blogging via Twitter and eBay Ink. He will also address the development and implementation of social media guidelines and best practices. You will learn:
